| I sympathize with the patients admitted at our institution who wanted the best medical attention but cannot because of strained resourses, inadequate logistics, financial constraint or just plain lack of money. You see, being admitted at UST CD means cash basis and so the doctors' management will depend on what you can buy and what laboratory requests you can pay for. If you lack the resources, then the doctors can't do anything. One example is an neonate suffering from neonatal sepsis, neonatal pneumonia, necrotizing fasciitis and probably necrotizing enterocolitis. If the parents cannot provide the necessary antibiotics, then there's nothing we can do. Probably, we can shop at the pay hospital but that does not guarantee that there are available drugs there. |
