Book List for the Board Exams

BASIC SUBJECTS

PHYSIOLOGY
Board Review Series (BRS)
Physiology by Guyton (latest)
for the special topics: Sports Medicine, Space and Aviation Physiology, Underwater Physiology, Sleep. If Dr. Jose Ramirez will be the one to give the Physiology exam, it is wise to have copies of the tables and graphs in Guyton (baby Guyton). He is also renowned for asking “exact value” questions, such as: the value of K in the endolymph, the resting membrane potential, the amount of ATP released per phosphate bond, the amount of Na in the saliva of a person upon parasympathetic stimulation. Make a list of the values which you can bring ON THE DAY of the exam. At best, your short-term memory will suffice to answer these questions. It would be BEST to review physiology BEFORE the other subjects. A solid understanding of its concepts will help with the others.
