Letter of Kalinga Medical Society
| KALINGA MEDICAL SOCIETY TABUK, KALINGA The Kalinga Medical Society strongly condemns the ambush of Dr. Constancio “Chandu” Claver, Jr. and his family leading to the death of his wife. We, the Kalinga Medical Society ask this question . . . “IS THIS THE PRICE OF SERVING THE PEOPLE?” Our friend and mentor, Dr. Chandu Claver is a person of service, leading different organizations that cater to the needs of the community. Due to his nationalistic inclination, he has inspired members of the Kalinga Medical Society not to join the exodus of doctors leaving the country for more peaceful, more humane and better living conditions. But because of this inhumane act of violence, it will not be surprising if there will be a loss of vigor and enthusiasm of medical doctors to serve and cater to the health needs of the people. We hope that the people of this province will come to realize that apathy will serve no one. We then appeal to the witnesses of the incident to come forward and help in the investigation. We challenge the Government Officials, PNP, and the military to conduct an honest investigation and apprehension of the real perpetrators of this criminal act. As a sign of protest over this cowardly and dastard act, the medical doctors have unanimously decided to close clinics (Government and Private) and out-patient departments of the Kalinga Provincial Hospital and Private Hospitals starting August 01, 2006.
