Tejada of Purefoods, paralyzed

The injury to the 6-foot-5 Tejada appeared to be the more serious one.

The reserve power-forward had a bad fall while going for a rebound with 5:43 left in the game and the Barakos well ahead, 73-54. Down on the floor, his condition was further aggravated when the full force of Mick Pennisi’s body fell on top of him.

Tejada laid on the floor for about 30 minutes, complaining of numbness from the waist down. He was later taken to the Makati Medical Center for further examination.

In one of the few instances that I watched PBA this is what I get, I witnessed someone get a spinal cord injury. From what I've heard from the anchorpersons, Tejada had both motor and sensory deficits waist down. That was just too bad. Because of basketball, he is paralyzed - for now. I just hope it is not permanent.
