Post-Revalida

Yes! You heard me right. My most feared day has finally come to an end - my revalida. After all the hardwork and sleepless nights, it all came to this point wherein one oral examination will determine your future, whether you'll graduate or not, graduate with honors or not.

March 1, 2004, 1PM. It is the time for me to give all that I've got. We proceeded to Dr. Monzon's office at Radiology Private Division. Oan was the first one to be called. Then me, then Jo-an. When it was my turn, I was so stressed and nervous. They can ask me anything under the sun (well, under the basic sciences' sun) They ask me about particular ethical issues, they asked me about the enzymes, about anatomical parts.

After that, we went to the Dean's office to get our patient for the Clinical Part. I got a patient from the Medicine Ward. However, the patient was doing her private thing so my tribe decided to get a new patient. It turned out that the patient was just admitted that morning and we were not able to make rounds with her. Fortunately, the case was Diabetic Ketoacidosis and I had one patient in my rotation in Medicine a patient similar to him. I clinched the diagnosis and delivered it with confidence.

Immediately after, we were asked to draw numbers from the Bingo thing. I got Acute scrotal pain, Seizure in pregnancy (eclampsia) and Acute abdomen. I chose acute scrotal pain because it's the one I'm confident to present. I left the room satisfied.

The most awaited part was the announcement of the tribe. They told us there's a good news and a bad news. The good news was we all passed but the bad news was, only one got a benemeritus (considering 2 of us are running for honors). It ended up, they were bluffing. We both got a benemeritus.
