Baccalaureate Mass

Today is our Baccalaureate Mass. At 3PM, all the medical clerks, together with the other graduating students of UST will attend this mass. It's a thanksgiving. It's a tradition.

We had our first day in Ophthalmology. We had our orientation yesterday. We started in the out patient department and we saw lots of patients. Ophtha's PE is cool! Just like in Dermatology, we just examine the organ involved. In ophtha's case, it's the eyes (duh!). But you have to be meticulous. You need to examine the lids, lashes, conjunctivae, sclerae, cornea, anterior chamber, iris, pupils and lens. Don't forget to get the visual acuity (in sc, ph, and cc). You also need to check the extraocular muscles and the funduscopy. In this rotation, you'll really know how to get a good funduscopic examination, unlike in other rotation that you just pretend you see the structures just to complete. Here, the pupils are dilated so you can get a good view of the retina.
